Andrea Comsa, director of Career Operations and Employer Connections and interim director of Undergraduate Co-op & Internship Programs, was named the 2025 recipient of the Leadership in Action Award. This honor is presented annually to a staff member who demonstrates initiative, innovation, and a collaborative spirit in pursuit of positive institutional change.

The selection committee noted the competitiveness of this year’s process, which saw a record number of nominations. Comsa's impact on career readiness initiatives, employer engagement, and cross-campus partnerships made her stand out among a strong pool of nominees.

"Leadership in action is never the effort of one person alone—it’s the outcome of a whole team working together, day in and day out," Comsa said. "I am deeply humbled and honored to receive this award, and I owe it to my incredible colleagues whose dedication makes success possible. It’s a privilege to be part of this journey with all of you."

Elizabeth (Liz) Reese, program and operations manager for First-Year Semester Abroad (FYSA), received the 2025 Putting Students First Award. This award celebrates staff members whose work consistently prioritizes the student experience, and who go above and beyond to ensure that students feel supported, heard, and empowered.

Reese plays a critical role in supporting first-year students as they transition to Georgia Tech through the FYSA program, which provides immersive global learning experiences in their first semester. Her thoughtful and reliable approach to student care has earned her the deep respect of students, families, and colleagues alike.

"I’m really honored to receive this year's Putting Students First award," said Reese. "Supporting students isn’t always easy—especially now, when so many are facing real challenges—but it’s also what makes this work meaningful. I try to show up for them with care, consistency, and the hope that even small efforts can make a positive difference."

She added, "I’m grateful to work alongside departments that share this commitment. The heart you bring to this work is inspiring; thank you for being such a big part of what makes it possible to truly put students first."

A Shared Commitment to Impact

The OUE community celebrates both honorees for their leadership, innovation, and unwavering dedication to student success. As Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Steven Girardot often notes, the strength of the OUE team lies in its people—those who bring passion, vision, and care to every aspect of the undergraduate experience.

Congratulations to Andrea and Liz for this well-deserved recognition.
